Scottish Parliament Bees Commission

Scottish Parliament Bees Commission

Back in 2017, I was commissioned by the Scottish Parliament to design a gift range to celebrate the first honey harvest from their very own beehives, which are kept in the Parliament garden.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable project and I felt (still feel) honoured to have been asked to work on it.

Six years later, the gift range is still going strong in the gift shop and the bee population at the Parliament has grown to over one million!

Last week, I had a chat with Ashleigh from BBC Scotland about the commission process, my ideas, inspiration and why it was such a special project for me to work on.

It's a really nice article, which also covers the history of the beekeeper and his family, and the bees' connection with the Great Seal of Scotland!
