In this jam-packed five-week course, you will be introduced to different techniques for printing your own designs and patterns on fabric, including block printing, screen printing and more.
Throughout the course you will be encouraged to experiment with different techniques and patterns to develop a set of motifs to use in a final printing project. There will be an emphasis on experimentation and you will learn a multitude of skills so that you can continue printing at home.
You will leave with an embroidery hoop sized screen and stamps that you can continue to print with at home. You will also have fabric printed with an array of your designs that can be used in future projects at home, as well as your completed final project.
This workshop is ideal for both beginners with no prior experience and those with a basic understanding of printmaking.
All printmaking tools and equipment will be provided in addition to fabric for practising each technique. You are advised to bring along a sketchbook and basic drawing materials and any design ideas or reference materials you have in mind. Please feel free to bring along your own fabric to further experiment with different effects.
The course will be taught by printmaker and surface pattern designer, Jenni Douglas. Jenni works from her studio and shop in Marchmont, where the evening classes will be held.
All materials will be provided, along with light refreshments.
